Functional and a fantastic design. Nice going Roanoke.
From Laughing Squid...
The city of Roanoke, Virginia sent out a call for artists in 2010 to submit designs for a one-of-a-kind bike rack design, Los Angeles design practice PopUp Design’s Comb Bike Rack was the unanimous winner.
The commissioned piece was handcrafted out of Mangaris, a type of premium hardwood decking, and the ‘hair’ within the comb is made of powder-coated steel. The massive piece, weighing in over 400 pounds, will now live in Roanoke’s historic Grandin Village, an area that recently began encouraging the use of bicycles by its citizens.
