A Fitting Tribute

It's not everyday that a new monument on the National Mall is opened to the public and it's once in a lifetime if that monument is the first for an African-American and also the first individual monument for a non-President.

Yesterday, on a near perfect summer day, the Park Service allowed for the first time public access to the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. From yesterday until Thursday, the memorial will be open for a "sneak peak" prior to the the official dedication on August 28th.

Dr. King joins Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and FDR as the only individuals to be memorialized on the Mall.  It's a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest leaders in history.
