Surrounded by family, this past Monday I married the woman of my dreams in a town that is best described as dream-like, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. If you've never been or heard of San Miguel (I hadn't until about 4 months ago!) read on...
Many people who travel to Mexico usually visit the coasts...Cancun, Cozumel, Acapulco, Cabo, etc. but the interior of Mexico has as much, if not more, to offer. San Miguel is a true gem of central Mexico. Located in the state of Guanajuato at an elevation of 6400 feet, San Miguel and the neighboring towns of Dolores Hidalgo and Gueretaro are historically known as being the heart of the Mexican Revolution. The weather is typically warm and sunny during the day and a little cool but very pleasant in the evening.
In addition to a rich history and near perfect weather, San Miguel is filled with friendly residents, fantastic cuisine, beautiful music, scenery that is breathtakingly picturesque, and a spirit of warmth and kindness that I have never experienced anywhere in my travels. If you're looking for your next vacation destination I highly recommend that you consider San Miguel.
Here are a few photos I made in San Miguel and a New York Times article on the magical Mexican town.
