The last few of months of this campaign have been draining. Not because this election is similar in length to War and Peace but because of the almost daily displays of racism, fear, and hatred oozing out the pores of many neanderthals that comprise a significant portion of the electorate. It's been a sorry and shameful display of the worst side of this country.We've seen it displayed across the U.S. for the general election but in California folks are also facing it regarding another issue, Proposition 8, which if passed, will ban gay marriage in the state.
The "Yes on Prop 8" faction has received very strong financial support from the Mormon church and until recently polls were showing that Prop 8 may actually pass and gay marriage would be banned...in California of all places for crying out loud!
Reasonable people can disagree and while I oppose Prop 8 (that is, I would if I voted in CA), I respect a persons right to support it...up to a point.
Exploiting children for political purposes is a reprehensible act. It sows the seeds for further intolerance in another generation and is simply bad parenting. I was shocked and saddened when I saw this video, which for me crosses the line...
