I had my first encounter with a high-tech bodily waste disposal device, aka a toilet, in Tokyo back in 1997. I was totally baffled for many minutes trying to figure out how to flush it...it was quite embarrassing. So with over 10 years of experience with the high-tech toilets of Japan under my belt, so to speak, I considered myself to be fairly tech-toilet savvy.
Until now.
The toilet in my hotel room in Seoul, which by the way is manufactured by the Japanese, takes things to a new level. Step in front of the toilet and a sensor is triggered that automatically raises the lid. Next comes the heated seat, followed by the electronic control panel embedded in the wall from which you can, shall we say, select from various options. Press the electronic flush button or simply walk away and it flushes automatically.
Clearly this is a marvel of engineering genius and a throne fit for a king.
