Will Colleges Be Next?

Given current economic conditions I'm sure a few things will or have already occurred: 1) enrollment will decline, 2) contributions to endowments will decrease, 3) endowment assets have declined because due to lower stock values, and 4) the availability of student loans has decreased.

Although college closings are rare, this set of lightning strikes does not make for a good mix for our schools of higher learning. Particularly vulnerable are small Christian colleges and historically black colleges.
