Bye-Bye Sci-Fi

It's rare that I ever think of a person creating a word but actually all words at some point in time were created by a single individual.

This past Thursday Forrest Ackerman, the man who coined the term "sci-fi" and discovered science fiction write Ray Bradbury, passed away at the age of 92.

From Wired magazine...
Ackerman said he thought up the term "sci-fi" in 1954 after he heard a radio announcer say "hi-fi."

"My dear wife said, 'Forget it, Forry, it will never catch on,'" he later said, according AP.

Rest in peace Forrest.
