Getting Plugged In

Regardless of how low gas prices are now, it's only a matter of time before plug-in cars are whizzing down our streets.

It's good to see that the infrastructure for these vehicles is beginning to be put in place.

From Inhabitat...
Recently the cities of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland unveiled a massive concerted effort to become the electric vehicle capitol of the United States.

This development includes everything from buying fully electric vehicles for all government transportation to expediting the approval of charging outlets throughout the bay area, including those located on the street.

In the latest electric vehicle infrastructure update Coulomb Technologies recently installed the first charging station in San Jose, California.
Their Chargepoint features an ingenious design that is easily connected to an existing streetlamp and provides access to the municipal energy grid.

As an incentive to try out the new technology they are currently offering access cards for a full year of free charging.
