BO Cracks Down

Over the past few months, I've seen all kinds of Obama-related memorabalia, most of it the usual stuff and other items pretty wacky (this evening I saw an Obama bean pie!). At one point I was wondering why Obama didn't have better control over the licensing of his image. The logical answer seemed to be that since he's a public figure he's fair (and free) game and that politically it was advantageous for him.

Now, the White House is gearing up to control the use of Obama's image.

From Bloomberg News...
“Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Obama’s calls for change and his “Yes We Can” campaign mantra are being evoked to sell assembly-required furniture in Ikea’s “Embrace Change” marketing campaign, bargain airfares during Southwest Airlines Inc.’s “Yes You Can” sale and “Yes Pecan” ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc. shops.

This is the craziest Obama product I've seen. You can figure out what it is on your own...
