SF Chronicle (Rant) and Wine Award Winners

Anyone who knows me well, knows how I feel about the Chronicle...for a city the size of San Francisco, the Chronicle is a provincial, small-minded, sorry excuse for a newspaper.

The point was driven home a few years ago when terrorists attacked the subways in Spain, killing 200+ people. On the same day, the California Supreme Court ruled against gay marriage.

What was the headline story? The gay marriage ruling.

Where was the Spain attack reported? Below the fold...

Now I have absolutely nothing against gay marriage, in fact I support it but come on...for a major metropolitan newspaper the court ruling, although important, shouldn't have trumped what was the most deadly terrorist attack since 9/11.

In any event, I wasn't planning to make this a rant about the Chronicle. The Chronicle does have one redeeming value...a very nice food and wine section. The winners of the Chronicle's 2009 wine award competition have been announced, so check em' out if you have a love for the grape.
