Colombian Devil's Breath

I was in Bogota last year and was warned by many people not to take the taxis unless one was called from the hotel or the restaurant. Even though I complied, I thought that it was an overreaction because the city seemed safe and kidnappings were almost unheard of in Bogata these days.

I was wrong.

Now I know why.

The fear wasn't about kidnappings but of Scopolamine aka Burundanga aka Colombian Devil's Breath, a drug that when enhaled or consumed can cause complete elimination of your own free will. Some taxi drivers are known to blow it in a passengers face then drive around to multiple ATMs and rob their passenger blind. The kicker...you don't even remember that it happened!

VBS.TV has a video story on Burundanga. This is part 1 of a nine part story that you can view here...
