Money as Wallpaper

To call Zimbabwe a basket case would be generous.

The UN estimates that just 6% of the population is employed and inflation rate has been estimated by some independent economists to have reached into the quadrillions of percent.

Earlier this year the government ceased printing masses of Zimbabwe dollars because no one will accept them. At Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s inaugural address last month, billion-dollar and trillion-dollar notes were used as confetti. Everything is now denominated in US dollars or South African Rand.

The uselessness of the Zimbabwe dollar has led to a clever advertising campaign for a small Zimbabwean newspaper. They've printed all their advertising on worthless Zimbabwean money.
