The Power of Words

I saw this AM that Barack and Michelle were hosting an evening of poetry, music and spoken word at the WH this evening. Students from local universities were invited to particpate. How cool is that?

It got me thinking about a poetry slam I've been to a couple times in Oakland irreverently named Tourettes Without Regrets. Some of the performances made me winch, some made me cry, some had me laugh, and some sigh but they all had one thing in common they made me think.

If you ever happen to be in the Bay Area on the first Thursday of the month I highly recommend. that you go see for yourself.
