For some odd reason even as a child I was a news and politics junky. I vividly remember being quite disappointed when Nixon defeated Humphrey...I was a few months short of turning five.
As a result, I grew up with Walter Cronkite beaming into our living room every night to report on the news. It's interesting to juxtapose the current form of "news" both on the cable channels and the main networks that we are subjected to versus that delivered by Cronkite. In that category we've sunk a long way.
Here's Cronkite reporting on what was and probably will always be the most pivotal event of my life...
