10 years of the Week in Pictures

MSNBC is marking 10 years since it began its Week in Pictures feature.  I looked at all the highlighted photos from the past 10 years, some are iconic (the Concorde in flames, Elian Gonzalez in a closet, and of course the World Trade Center), a few a "cute", and for several of them I'm not quite sure why they got the nod.

The one thing that struck me afterwards was an impression that most of the photos selected to be highlighted focused on destruction, either my nature or man, whereas the "outtake" photos centered largely on enjoyable aspects of life. I'm not sure if the photos that made the cut says more about the MSNBC editors, the demands of their viewers, or what the editors think their viewers want to see.

If your into photography, both galleries are worth looking at, although personally I prefer the outtakes.
