Time's Journalistic Malpractice

On 8/9 Time published an article titled "Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin." The premise is that exercise makes a person hungry who then goes off and gorges on junk food that has more calories than were lost from exercising.

Duh!

You think no one will pay attention to this garbage? Think again. It's currently the second most popular article on Time's website.

Unfortunately, the folks that don't know Hawaii is a state as well as others will latch onto this as proof that they don't need to exercise. I can hear the argument now, "Of course I don't exercise! I read in Time that it'll make you fat."

Diet is a critical element as is common sense and willpower. I'll go out on a limb and guess that the folks at the gym are more fit than couch potatoes.

Publishing an attention grabbing article designed purely to sell more magazines yet which offers extremely poor advice is cynical, predatory, and simply irresponsible, especially in a country where over 2/3 of the population is overweight.

If you want to get a chuckle or raise your blood pressure a bit, click here to read the article.
