Gandhi's 140th

Friday marked the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma). I don't think it's an overstatement to say that he not only changed the future of India, South Africa and the United States, he transformed the world.

I'm embarrassed to admit it but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I discovered that the Gandhi's that have been active (and assassinated) in Indian politics over the past five decades aren't related to Mahatma. They (Indira - daughter, Rajiv - grandson, and Sonia - wife of Rajiv) are descendents of Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India.
