In an attempt to see if there's H2O hiding just under the surface, NASA's going to bomb the moon tomorrow morning by crashing some kind of space thing into it. The best part, you can watch the crash live on the net via NASA TV and if you have a strong enough telescope you can see it unfiltered
How cool is that?
I'm out west now so that'll mean a 4:15 am alarm for me. It'll be worth it.
I heard through the grapevine a couple weeks ago that my niece referred to me as a nerd...I think she's right.
Update: I was up at 1:30am (I set the alarm for the wrong time) and then again at 4:30am to check out the lunar crash. The ride down was interesting as the spacecraft got closer and closer to the moon's surface but the impact...boring.
