Forced to Eat and Eat and Eat



In Mauritania, a woman's size "indicates the amount of space she occupies in her husband's heart." Because famine is a regular occurrence in Mauritania, bigger women symbolize not only fertility, but wealth and health. One in five women there practice gavage, which is the force-feeding of young girls.

Call it what you will, in my book it's called torture.
