It's a depressing that politicians in DC who are responsible for the direction of this country and in many ways the direction of the world are simply disingenuous head-in-the-sand idiots.
From The Hill...
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) on Tuesday used the D.C. snowstorm to make a political jab, saying that it provides evidence for global warming skeptics.
“It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries “uncle,” the conservative Senator tweeted on Twitter.
“Where’s Al Gore when we need him?” quipped Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who burst out laughing when asked about the prospect of passing cap-and-trade legislation Tuesday while the city was still digging out.
The Virginia GOP ran ads against Reps. Tom Perriello and Rick Boucher, two conservative Democrats who support legislation to make industries pay for their emissions. "Tell them how much global warming you get this weekend.... Maybe they'll come help you shovel," the ads said.
If it were only that simple.
From Climate Progress...
[W]hile the anti-science crowd will no doubt tout that as evidence we aren’t warming — just as they did with the “cold snap” in early January — in fact, climate science predicts we will see more extreme precipitation events year-round as warming puts more moisture into the atmosphere. Indeed, the January “cold snap” not only didn’t prove the case for (nonexistent) global cooling — it turns out that...this is the warmest January in the 32-year satellite-based data record.
