During our kitchen remodel we found two historical "artifacts" (some would call it junk) hidden in the walls: a whiskey bottle and several clumps of newspaper. The amateur archaeologist in us went to work.
We couldn't get much out of the newpaper, it immediately fell apart when we tried to straigthen it out but we managed to discern that it was from 1911 and one article was about some kind of labor dispute.
The bottle, however, was a lot more interesting. Kinsey, as best as I can tell was a whiskey distillery located in Linfield, PA. It had a long, complicated and at times confusing history that goes back to 1891 when it was founded by the 33 year-old Jacob G. Kinsey, includes a dark period during Prohibition, and concludes in 1979 when the bottling line shut down for the last time.
Although the bottle has a cork in it, unfortunately it was empty.
Now I'm wondering what else is hidden in these walls.
