Artist From Their Art

More originality from the beings with the creatively creative gene.

Ghost in the Machine: Jimi Hendrix out of cassette.
(cassette is real, no paint, no photoshop)
Beethoven made from bits of second-hand Beethoven sheet music!
The Dude from VHS tape
Monet in his own brushstrokes...A page from a used book showing a painting by Monet (woman with umbrella) cut up and rearranged to form a portrait of Monet.
Detail of a portrait of William Shakespeare made out of text from his sonnets

A bit about the artist from her website iri5...
My name is Erika Iris Simmons. I am a self-taught artist who works with non-traditional media. Most of my materials have been discarded or donated at some point.

I try to express an idea, through the arrangement of very common things, with the hope that some message is conveyed without words. I love the nostalgia of the archaic and I hope that not everything which has outlived its use goes to waste.
