Yesterday, marked the ninth anniversary of the passing of my father. It's usually a melancholy day but last night was different. Thanks to incredible friends and family and a very thoughtful idea from my wife we honored the memory of my Dad by partaking in two of his favorite activities...listening to jazz and playing poker (with a big coffee can of change he won playing poker).
Lots of laughs, lots of fun, a few surprises in the deck, and now I completely appreciate how much enjoyment he got from poker, something that didn't fully sink in when I was a little and used to sit on his lap while he sized up his hand and ante up'd.
I wish he had been playing with us, he would have had a ball...and won all the money.
