Butter pecan.
It's the favorite ice cream of one of my best friend's mother whose birthday we celebrated, a bit prematurely, yesterday with a dinner featuring an amazing gazpacho with a dollop of blue crab and delicious braised duck legs over grits.
Done right, butter pecan ice cream isn't white like you get in a store but caramel colored because the butter is supposed to be browned. Doing so gives it a deeper, slightly coffee-like favor. Butter pecan was also one of my mom's favorite flavors, so one spoonful brings back a wealth of memories.
Here's the recipe for those who are ice creamly-inclined.
P.S. This weekend's flavor is going to be very different.
