A birthday dinner party for my sister-in-law + a highly creative brother-in-law = a Iron Chef competition potluck with the secret ingredient of...fennel.
What to do?
Grab the ice cream maker and the baking sheets and out comes fennel seed ice cream and fennel pollen pistachio shortbread, all served in tangerine cups from a pretty useless tangerine tree (the fruit is dry as sand) in our front yard.
Liquorice isn't my favorite flavor but fennel falls into a kinder gentler category.
