1 Billion Cups

This is one reason I use a reusable cup for coffee.

From the NYT...
So when you finish drinking that Starbucks coffee and toss the cup into the trash or even the recycling bin, what happens to it?

The answer, unless you are in one of a few cities like Seattle or San Francisco, is that it ends up in the trash. Most paper recyclers do not accept the cups, in part because of the thin interior plastic-like coating that makes them liquid-proof and the lack of demand for used cup material.

But the coffee giant has set a goal of making 100 percent of its cups reusable or recyclable by 2015. That’s one billion paper cups a year.

The other reason, it's cheaper.
