Living in DC I've seen a fair number of presidential motorcades over the years. I always assumed the President rides in the presidential limo but it turns out that's not necessarily the case.

The presidential motorcade, or the "package," can include dozens of motorcycles, police cars, and other vehicles. Pictures here are the essential components, though their configuration is often changes to reflect the Secret Service's perception of potential threats. In reality, the president may be positioned anywhere in the motorcade, or somewhere else altogether-for example, in a helicopter above.
