Triple Crown Time

It's that time of year again...time for the Triple Crown.

Despite Animal Kingdom's impressive rally down the stretch in the Kentucky Derby yesterday, odds are that Animal Kingdom will join the rest of the Kentucky Derby winners over the past 31 years and will come up short for the Triple Crown.

A look back at arguably, one of the best if not the best thoroughbred in history, Secretariat. Secretariat's amazing 31 length victory at Belmost to win the Triple Crown in 1973...



An interesting sidenote: when Secretariat was put down in 1989, his heart was estimated to weigh approximately 22lbs, which is about 2.5 times the size of the average horse heart.
