I just arrived at my polling location and never in my life have I been in a line so long to vote.
The line is over three blocks long but you have to put this into perspective...my polling location is in Washington, DC, a city in which 92 percent of the vote in 2004 went to Kerry. If there is one place in the US where an individual's vote makes no difference at all it's DC.
Yet here I am on a cool autumn morning in a very long line patiently waiting with hundreds of other folks to vote...it's a wonderful feeling.
Update: It's a mini reunion out here. So far I ran into an old high school classmate, a neighbor, and several familiar faces. Have been waiting over an hour and a half but I'm almost there.
